Shooting Stars Select Dynamic Trio of Guards in the 2025 CEBL Draft

The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday their three selections in the 2025 CEBL Draft. The Shooting Stars have selected David Walker 7th overall out of Toronto Metropolitan University in the first round, Koat Thomas out of St. Francis Xavier University 14th overall in the second round, and sophomore guard Samuel Wong 27th overall out of Centennial College in the third round.


Two familiar faces return to Scarborough as Walker and Thomas both gear up for their second season with the Shooting Stars.


Walker returns after the 2024 CEBL season with the Brampton Honey Badgers where he averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 15.6 minutes in 16 games. He was selected 12th overall in the 2023 CEBL Draft by the Scarborough Shooting Stars, and averaged 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 21.8 minutes in nine appearances as a rookie.


Hailing from Waterloo, ON Koat Thomas is picked up in the second round after completing another successful collegiate season with St. Francis Xavier. He averaged 9.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.8 steals in 28.1 minutes per game through 17 games for St. Francis Xavier.


Wong, a Centennial College guard and Scarborough native, joins the Shooting Stars following his second season at Centennial College. Ranked among the top 5 in 3-point shooting in the CCAA during the 2023-24 season, he stood out his rookie year hitting 47.6% from beyond the arc.


The Scarborough Shooting Stars will kick off their 2025 season on Sunday May 25 at CAA Centre against the Brampton Honey Badgers. Scarborough will then host the Ottawa BlackJacks at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for their first home game on Tuesday May 27.
